BALLOON Therapy

Anxiety, Depression, Stress ……give it a shot and give me feedback

Go ahead and purchase a bag of balloons and an air pump. Well maybe not a pump, I want to give you the satisfaction of blowing it and then bursting it! But wait first take a marker and write a stressor in your life i.e. “TRAFFIC”, “Neighbors that don’t pick up after their dogs”, “GLOOMY DAY”, “SPEECH”, “BOSS”, “ANXIETY”.  Now you can get the satisfaction of pricking it or punching it, depending on your level of frustration.

In meditation, we acknowledge out thoughts and let them go. For me, this is easier.

However, in contrast to meditation, write affirmations, uplifting words or messages: “FRIENDS”, “GLORIOUS DAY”, “I AM LIGHT”, “I AM GOING TO SHINE TODAY”, “MY SPEECH WILL WOW ALL”, “MOCHA”, “ANXIETY BEGONE”, “ HEALTHY FOOD TO NOURISH MY BODY AND MIND”, “ODE TO LAVENDER”.  Leave those balloons to feed your spirits.  When they are deflating or have accomplished their task, let them out.  Make them again or make new ones.

This process will affirm your self-worth and nudge you to accountability to your family, your roommate, your friends, or more importantly to YOURSELF.

Another method is writing down your thoughts on paper and burning it, but this is more FUN and COLORFUL and the loud pop is SO satisfactory. What is KEY is the physical act itself.

Soon you will not need these balloons in your home; you will have them in your inner sight, your thoughts, heart and in your work.

One caveat, BEWARE of the taste testers of the world, the young babies and children who indiscriminately sample everything.
